Running Packing List

Running Packing List
Joining a run club like Rocup is an exciting way to stay active, meet new people, and push your limits. Whether you're coming along for your very first run or you’re a seasoned runner, it’s worth knowing what to bring so you can feel confident and prepared.
1. Proper Running Shoes
This is essential. Your trainers should be comfortable, well-fitting, and designed for running – not general gym use. The right footwear reduces the risk of injury and makes your experience far more enjoyable.
2. Comfortable Activewear
Dress for the weather. Lightweight, sweat-wicking materials are ideal in warmer months, while layers and a light waterproof jacket will keep you cosy in cooler or wetter conditions. Avoid cotton as it retains sweat and can cause chafing.
3. Water Bottle
Stay hydrated before, during, and after your run. While most Rocup sessions are manageable without needing water mid-run, it's always wise to have a bottle with you, especially in summer.
4. A Charged Phone (Optional but Useful)
Many runners like to track their run using apps like Strava, Apple Health, or Garmin. Having your phone on you can also be handy for staying safe, listening to music or post-run photos with the crew!
5. A Positive Attitude
You don’t need to be fast or experienced to show up – just open-minded and ready to enjoy yourself. Rocup is all about rising up together, regardless of where you're starting from.
6. Post-Run Essentials
If you're heading out straight after the run, consider bringing a spare top or sweatshirt to change into. Some runners also bring a snack or recovery bar for after the session.
7. Running Watch or Tracker (Optional)
If you’re keen to monitor your pace, heart rate or distance, a basic GPS watch or fitness tracker is a great investment, though it’s by no means required to take part in Rocup.
8. Light Reflective Gear (For Evening Runs)
If your run club meets in the early mornings or evenings, reflective gear or a clip-on light is a smart choice to stay visible and safe.
Final Thoughts
At the end of the day, all you really need to bring to Rocup is yourself. Don’t let gear hold you back – we welcome all levels, all backgrounds, and all vibes. Just show up, give it a go, and run your own race.
